Direct from Ireland, Steve gave into his friends' goading and jumped up to give us a few rousing Oasis tunes, among others. What a killer voice. Let's hope he comes back.
First time for Ed, who outclassed even Garth Brooks with his rendition of "Friends in Low Places"—the lyrics of which we tried to avoid taking personally. He was aided by the stalwart Chuck Whelan, a legendary figure in his own right.
It's not often that a genuine rock star appears at the Open Mic, but the planets aligned tonight to present James Norton in his Nirvanica incarnation. Some of the most original songs we've heard in a long time. Anyone who writes a song about Turtle Frisbee gets my vote.
Kevin rolls in every now and then to treat us to a wide array of selections from the American and British rock songbooks. Tonight's highlight was the Rolling Stones' overlooked classic "You Got the Silver," played on Kevin's brand-new Epiphone Hummingbird.
Brian dropped in to bat cleanup again, brandishing his amazing Breedlove guitar and a bucketful of choice tunes old and new.
