Music by Matt Putnam, Massachusetts singer/songwriter
Vocals, guitar, harmonica
Open Mike takes place Wednesdays from 9:00 - 12:00 (sign up at 8:30) at Paddy Barry's in Quincy. Come on down and enjoy the famous Paddy's "vibe". People here love live music.
Email me with any questions, or call Paddy's at 617-770-3620.
That's a decidedly more picturesque backdrop than the Beatles and B.B. King posters at Paddy's, isn't it? It's stolen from Zachary's CastMP3 page. No, I didn't forget my camera again. I forgot my camera battery. Anyhow, Zachary is quite a talented songwriter and musician, and he comes by way of Lancaster, PA.
The once and future king of rousing Irish balladry gave us another uplifting set of tunes.
Bill is simply one of the best singers you'll hear anywhere, and his repertoire spans forty years. Everything from "Runaway" to Radiohead. He's so good it makes me sick, so I'll just stop now.
David hadn't been by for a while, so it was great to see him—and hear him. "For What It's Worth" was a standout, along with some more choice Neil Young.
Here for the first time, Chris gave us a nice set of his passionate, engaging original songs.
Jessi has been appearing a lot lately, promoting her new CD, 10:17. Great stuff all around.
Always fun to hear Tom. He comes by on a regular basis and rocks the joint.

This trio first came to Paddy's in the dead of the winter of 2007. They're all great singers and players, and they cover up-to-the-minute stuff in a rocking, infectuous style. They are Mark Coughlin (bass), Barbara Coughlin (guitar), and Mike Ryan (guitar).

Two weeks in a row, we've been treated to Holbrook's impeccable guitar and vocal skills. Paired up with the legendary Chuck Whelan, he proved unstoppable.
Scot's a rocker at heart; check out his band Sound Asylum. He still comes by to play acoustically at Paddy's with a stripped-down group.
Chuck is never too busy (even when he's working full-time with his two bands) to stop by and lend his formidable talents. The harmonies he and Scot treated us to on "Nowhere Man" were exquisite.
Jim may be well on the way to receiving the Lifetime Open Mic Achievement award.
Josie couldn't help herself—she just had to jump up and play along while Brian Mahoney was singing. It's that svengali effect he has on people.
Brian MahoneyThe aforementioned svengali of swing broke it down like he does every week.
Singer of stout-hearted Irish songs, intrepid Sean came by to give us a rousing set and plug some upcoming gigs in Quincy. Keep your ear to the ground; contractual obligations permit me from mentioning competitors.

A now, an added attraction for you fashion buffs: here's a full body portrait of Tom, in honor of his shoes—the coolest I've seen in a long time. Rock on, Tom!
The classiest dude on the South Shore, with a wide-reaching repertoire and a great smile to boot.
Sometimes we get to hear Freddy two weeks in a row. There's never enough to go around.
This is one of the things I love about Paddy's: people dance. It doesn't matter that the tunes are supplied by one guy plunking on a humble guitar—they love live music here.
