Joe decided to come by and "check things out"; once things checked out, he grabbed a guitar and ripped through "For What It's Worth." He's promised to come back.
Gran, Joe's music partner, usually concentrates on lead guitar but tonight he did a fine job singing on a wide range of songs. Now we just have to hear Gran and Joe together!
I've decided to put Jim's picture up every time he comes down—at least for now—even though he's technically in the "return engagements" category. It's just because he's so darn photogenic. Someday I'll pull the plug. The power I weild is exhilirating.
Speaking of power, good old Tom came back after a bit of a hiatus to give us one of his powerhouse sets of music. You just gotta listen when Tom's playing.

It was great to see and hear Jim again, sounding as smooth and jazzy as ever. Tonight he surprised us with the late Al Wilson's "Show and Tell," which proved to be a challenge Chuck Whelan couldn't resist. He jumped up and contributed his usual stellar harmony.
Not only is Jim a great singer, he's a hot guitarist as well. And he always wears cool shirts.
David Legge and Larry Beguerie (you know them as Beggs and Leggs) dropped in to grace us with their trademark harmonies and rich Gibson guitar sounds ("Mr. Soul": was a standout). Tonight, David broke out his harmonica rack. I once got into an argument with a guy who swore that Bob Dylan invented the harmonica rack. This fellow was otherwise pretty intelligent, but it illustrates the fact that Bob Dylan is still generating controversy from the safety of his Malibu estate. But I digress.
Brian has been coming around on Wednesdays and Thursdays for a long time, and it's always a pleasure to listen to him. He's been adding some choice Pogues to his repetoire, among them "A Bang On the Ear" and "A Pair of Brown Eyes." If anyone knows of any additional body parts mentioned in Shane McGowan songs, please drop me a line.

Finally, after all this time, Brian decdided to give us a tune. It was "Willie McBride," done to perfection.
Desi makes everyone want to sing. So what, says Jude, could possibly be better to sing than "Sweet Caroline"? It all happened here at Paddy's, live and in person.
Brian also loves to sing, and it shows. He gave us a short, but thougoughly entertaining set, heavy on classic rock.
"Layla," they called, and "Layla" they got, harking back to the glorious days of Clapton/MTV Unplugged, or in my case, Unhinged. I hadn't dusted this one off in a long time. No matter, though, Emily's stunning vocal covered up all my gaffes. Why am I hunched over like that, you may wonder—as if I'm about to be sick, or fall and break my hip? I'm desperately squinting at the cheat sheet, looming just out of range of my near-sightedness.
A powerful voice, and powerful songs. This was sessun-quality stuff, presented at this humble open mike.
Always a treat when Kevin drops by. He's been delving into some wildly eclectic stuff the last couple of times.
Joining Desi is our own erstwhile Chuck Whelan, who needs no introduction. Star of stage, screen and Olde Brigade, Chuck considers it his God-ordained duty to start a party whenever he plays.
We're lucky to have Brian here every week (or as often as he can make it).
Tom's got a deep bag of songs, old and new, and it's a pleasure to hear them. It looks like he may become a regular!
Desi usually plays Irish (and more) with Whiskey on Sunday, and he's a monster of a solo performer as well. Powerful vocals and hypnotic banjo. You can't not sing along.
Chuck doesn't necessarily always do his trademark "Ring of Fire," but he manages to set the place on fire every time he plays. Recently described by the Patriot Ledger's Jay Miller as "the Hibernian Johny Cash", Chuck can be found at Murhy's Law and other Boston-area venues blasting it out solo—when he's not performing with Danny Gill's Olde Brigade.

Here he is again, lookin' as cool as ever, and sounding as great as ever.
This marks the second appearance of Rob, who does a great job with U2, Van Morrison, and just about everything else.
