Music by Matt Putnam, Massachusetts singer/songwriter

Open Mike takes place Wednesdays from 8:00 - 11:30 (sign up at 7:45) at Paddy Barry's in Quincy. Come on down and enjoy the famous Paddy's "vibe". People here love live music.
Email me with any questions, or call Paddy's at 617-770-3620.
Joe and Joel played for a live audience for the first time ever right here at our own humble open mic. They did a fantastic job with the Jayhawks' "Save it for a Rainy Day," following up with "Big River" and "Ring of Fire" from Johnny Cash. They have vowed to return. Let's hope they do—since, in addition to sounding good together, they're a couple of great guys.
Chuck gave us an impromptu all-acoustic performance at the close of the open mic. Seen behind Chuck is our own beloved Catherine, who holds down the fort on Wednesdays.
Not only does John boast a City-of-Quincy-approved historic name, he plays a mean mandolin. First time here for John, and he's promised to come back. He rates two photos, since the one on the left looks like it could be a professional headshot—if it hadn't been taken on a point-and-shoot digital camera, in bad lighting, in a bar. Ah, well.
Chuck Whelan, long-time New England singer/guitarist and all-around nice guy, has been kind enough to perform at Paddy's just about every night since the open mic began. To paraphrase "Everyone Loves Raymond", everyone loves Chuck. Tonight he teamed up with Holbrook Gracia, who also sings and absolutely kills on guitar: melodic, jazz-infused leads and voice-leading chords. Together they made a formidable team, and never once fought the way Simon and Garfunkel did.
Simon and Garfunkel. Hmm, maybe I should use more current pop-culture references. I know, how about Barenaked Ladies? What, that's from fifteen years ago? Damn....
Geoff returned after a long hiatus from Paddy's for the specific purpose of introducing his friend Kimmy from Michigan. Not that it wasn't a treat to hear Geoff again!
All the advance press turned out to be justified: Kimmy writes and sings beautiful, soulful songs in an indie vein. It's rumored she may come back again.
Hingham's own Holbrook—for lack of a more poetic description—really knows what the hell he's doing, vocally and guitar-wise. His music, a real "cut above", makes everyone stop and pay attention.
